Qotho Laboratory Services launched a number of PT schemes during 2013 and envisages expanding the range of proficiency schemes within the mining industry.
Through reorganisation of our businesses within the Group, Qotho Laboratory Services specifically focuses on the commissioning and management of laboratories, the implementation is ISO 17025 and the design and implementation of Proficiency Testing Schemes.
Qotho Laboratory Services is a newly established South African company, within the Tramecon group of companies.
Our current client base includes operations from Zambia, the DRC, Tanzania and Namibia, in addition to our established client base in South Africa.

In 2003 she was awarded an MBA from Henley Management College, UK. She is registered with SACNASP (SA Council for Natural Scientific Professions) as a Professional Natural Scientist. Previous employment includes serving as a Laboratory and Quality Manager at Ruashi Mining, Laboratory and Production Manager at Teal Mining and Explorations, and Technical Director at MetQuest, a marketing and market-development company, specializing in metal chemicals. She is a Corporate Member of the SA Chemical Institute and a Fellow member of the Geological Society of South Africa. Our Technical Director is Mr Nhlanhla (Lucky) Mamba, who has more than 25 years’ experience in the Mining- and Chemical-Testing Laboratory Field. The gaps he identified in these traditional round-robins including the inadequate statistical protocols and poor application thereof, have motivated him to launch an alternative professionally-run PTS. Tramecon specializes in the provision of a large array of support services to laboratories in the mining sector. These services range from laboratory design, equipping, commissioning, and, if required, management of laboratories; we also facilitate the sourcing and supply of consumables and equipment to African operations. Re-organization of business within Tramecon led to the establishment of Qotho Laboratory Services. Qotho specifically focuses on the design and implementation of Proficiency Testing Schemes (PTS), the sale of Reference Materials, as well as assisting laboratories with the implementation of ISO Qotho introduced a number of PT schemes in 2013, and going forward envisages expanding the range of proficiency schemes within the mining industry. Participation in our schemes affords each laboratory the unique opportunity to assess the accuracy and comparability of their results with peer laboratories over time. Through the scheme, QRM’s are generated, which provide an invaluable tool for further internal monitoring and calibration, for all the laboratories involved. Our in-depth knowledge and experience in mineral laboratories, coupled with an understanding of accreditation requirements, enables us to expertly guide customers through the many analytical challenges that arise. Qotho Laboratory Services specializes in supporting clients in commercial or private laboratories, small businesses or multi-national corporations. Other non-core services include: Assistance to laboratories seeking ISO 17025 accreditation by conducting on-site ISO practical QMS implementation and Technical Audits. We have expanded our capabilities and international presence and now service over 130 laboratories in sub-Saharan Africa and various International countries. Our current client base includes operations in Botswana, DRC, Mexico, Namibia, The Netherlands, Peru, Philippines, Tanzania, USA, Australia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, in addition to our well-established client base in South Africa.
