Over the years Lucky Bean has become the preferred home in Joburg for a fabulously interesting mix of guests. Many guests from the Non-Profit sector, as well as business people looking for a change to hotels. We are constantly amazed, by the wonderful people that we meet in our special house. Melville is one of Johannesburg’s oldest and quaintest suburbs, with leafy streets and a village feel. Very mixed and comfortable, it is a favorite destination for tourists, business people and locals seeking the warm and authentic heart of true Johannesburg; an integrated, bubbling city alive with an enchantingly multi-cultural energy. The neighborhood is charming, the rooms are very comfortable and the breakfast conversations are interesting! We met other guests from Turkey, Zimbabwe and various European countries. For our first time in Jo'burg, we were referred to the Lucky Bean by several different friends who travel there frequently for business and pleasure. What a safe, fun, welcoming respite from that huge, crazy city. The owners and staff took amazing care of us (including loaning us a phone and helping us get around). Our room was beautiful, spacious, and clean; breakfast was delicious. The house is extremely comfortable, and breakfast was excellent!
