HISTORY.
By combining the synergies of Nubil and our sister company, Delthorn Wholesale Butcheries cc, we are able to considerably reduce our manufacturing costs. This enables us to manufacture our product somewhat cheaper than other biltong manufacturers. All this combines into a quality product that we are able to sell, on average, cheaper than our competitors. Our sister company, Delthorn Wholesale Butcheries cc, was started in 1997 by its current two directors John Thornton and Leo Delaney. A clear and obvious opportunity for someone to sell quality, bulk biltong in our retail space arose and hence Nubil cc was born. Born and raised in Yorkshire, John's uncanny eye for detail earned him a speedy rise to a General Management position for a large retail chain in the U.K. John moved his family to SA in 1985, where he took up a position of G.M. Leo was born in Glasgow and trained in his home city as a master butcher. He moved to SA in 1981 and as a result of his superior training progressed through the management ranks of Checkers Meat Markets to the position of Regional Director. From here, Leo joined Midland Meats in the capacity of Managing Director. Tom was born in Manchester and moved to S.A with his family where he completed his education. He joined Makro in 1988 and progressed through the management structures taking a keen interest in retail marketing. He spent a year working at Makro U.K in 1994 and returned to Makro SA Tom left Makro in 1998 to join John and Leo at Nubil. The slang that is as important to South African heritage as our beloved national snack. The better the quality of fuel, the more conditioned they are to perform at their optimum levels. Healthy biltong snacks are packed with nutrition that supplies athletes with the all the energy required for their demanding physical lifestyles. South Africa’s Greatest Traditional Delicacy In South Africa’s early history, food was hard to come by. In fact, our ancestors used to have to deal with their fair share of hardships, from malaria, to the tsetse fly, to the dry barren conditions. Where in South Africa can you best take in your traditional biltong experience? Africa is renowned for its incredible landscapes, where people from all over the world come to take in the splendour. The bushveld offers some of the most beautiful places in South Africa. South Africa is a country of contradictions, mixed cultures and beautiful traditions, all swirled into the vibrant society we call our rainbow nation. And nowhere is this more evident than in our unique culinary experiences. What could possibly be more South African than biltong and rugby? If there is one team that hasn’t let us down in the world of South African sports it is the Springboks.
